Family holiday in Ibiza | travelling toddler

Before I went to University back in 2001, Ibiza was the go to place for a lads holiday. It?s where I went with my friends back when we were 18, for a week of drinking and partying. However, it transpires that the island of Ibiza has a family friendly side to it to.

Located in the?Mediterranean, Ibiza benefits from a balmy climate, safe bathing, and beautiful beaches. Being in the Mediterranean means it?s fairly close to home, just a couple of hours flight from the UK. Additionally, being due south means there is no Jet lag. Ibiza is just 1 hour ahead, which you?ll hardly notice.

It would be fair to say that whilst it does have a large clubbing scene, the vast majority of holidaymakers are families who have sought out Ibiza for its other charms. ?People say it?s one of the resorts in the Mediterranean for children, with plenty to see and do as well.?Families are able to choose from a range of resorts on the island, the majority of which are right on the coast and feature great beaches, family entertainment and lots for children to do. Also,?being a small island means it?s very easy to get around so car hire in Ibiza is very popular.

The island is only 30 miles long and 20 miles wide, so with a car there is a great deal you can see and do in only a short space of time.

Favourites include:

  • Car Marca is home to the magnificient stalactite caves, located up in?the cliffs overlooking Puerto de San Miguel. This is an exciting adventure which the whole family will enjoy.
  • The San Antonio aquarium is located on the coast just outside of the city itself, where the staff rehabilitate sick and injured ocean dwelling creatures. Again, the whole family will enjoy looking at all of the fish and turtles in what is a very natural secure environment which has been created.
  • In the summer, Ibiza town and San Antonio put on a brilliant fireworks display. If you?re staying on the island it?s well worth a drive.

For a full run-down of things to see and do, the official Ibiza Tourism website is a great up to date resource:?http://www.ibiza.travel/en/
